Do these people hear themselves when they speak?  Let’s recap shall we…

Thanks to the Gubbmit’s inability to convince the cantankerous faction in Parliament - I mean Congress - people receiving the ACP credit in their Internet bills (a $30/month discount) will no longer do so after April 30 - and that presumably ends altogether after May (in which their bills will reflect a $15 discount)

In order to help those losing this $30 credit ON/FOR SPECTRUM INTERNET, Spectrum is offering people a year of free SPECTRUM MOBILE - which is a mobile telephone & data plan.

So! Just to be clear here, the bevy of people running the show at Spectrum are bound by law to end the discounts that low income people have received via a public/private partnership designed to help people of low income in an national economy in which food & fuel prices are soaring & inflation is high, & corporations like Walmart are raising food prices on their Great Value label products while, simultaneously, executive pay vs hourly pay is way out of whack, & a great many corporations are engaging in some shady practices like boosting corporate payouts to their shareholders instead of engaging in some philanthropic work like helping us lowly plebians & otherwise trying to shoulder the burden by helping keep prices low.  

AND

In order to help the people negatively affected by this turn of events…

Their response is not to offer a $15 discount on INTERNET services - it is, instead, to offer them free TELEPHONE services valued at right @ $30 a month for 12 months.   

I guess they reason that people will see through this Kafkaesque program.  This seems to me like a whole lot of rigamorole to require of their customers when it’s now obvious that they believe themselves able to afford $30/Mon X 12 Months of free mobile services to a number of people who most certainly include both those who qualify for discounted internet via Spectrum itself without the ACP credit & also a set of people who were able to financially qualify for the ACP discount but not Spectrum Assist. 

To summarize…

(0) - On the one hand, they, to take just one example, historically reject people for Spectrum Assist whose income runs through SSD not SSI (Personal income is lower for those on SSI vs those on SSD). 

& 

(1) - On the other hand, as the ACP credit ends, they are suddenly able up cough up enough cash out of their own coffers to offer free mobile services to both the first set of people — those who qualify for Spectrum Assist, insofar as they also qualified for the ACP credit &, depending on their income from SSD, all or at least a portion of this second group of people who, while not qualified for Spectrum Assist, did qualify for the ACP credit.

& 

(2) They are also able to offer these services to, depending on their personal income, a third set of people — namely those who receive income from sources other than SSD. in addition to (0) & (1).

That’s gluttony for you!
