Infinite Diversity Infinite Combinations

For the past 2 or 3 weeks, the Christian Internet/Social Media has been abuzz with chatter about the Gubbmit revealing that space aliens exist & are demons. First of all, this all comes across as yet another conspiracy theory working its way through some quarters of American Evangelicalism.     Second, why would space aliens be demons.      Maybe some are & some aren’t.    So what if some of them are.     Demons are still beings who left their positions of power & authority (Jude).   Most importantly why is a challenge for our faith as Christians?     According to the Bible, the purpose of the created order is to testify to God’s existence, attributes, & authority (Romans 1:18 - 32).    God is not tribal, territorial spirit.     God is universal.     He created everyone & everything every-when-&-where.      That means that if extr...

In the morning I lay out my requests in front of you, and I watch for your answer. No Access 4  For you are not a God who takes pleasure in evil. With you the wicked cannot dwell. 5  The arrogant cannot stand before your eyes. You hate all evildoers. 6  You put to death those who speak lies. The  Lord  is disgusted with bloodthirsty, deceitful men. Access in Prayer 7  But as for me, by your great mercy      I will enter your house.      I will bow down toward your holy temple          with reverence fo...

Psalm 3

Heading A psalm by David. When he fled from Absalom, [ a ]  his son. Many Enemies 1  O  Lord , how my foes are multiplying! Many are rising up against me! 2  Many are saying about my life,  Interlude [ b ] “There is no salvation for him in God.” One Protector 3  But you, O  Lord , are a shield for me. You are my glory and the one who lifts up my head. 4  With a loud voice I cry out to the  Lord ,  Interlude and he answers me from his holy mountain. Peaceful Rest 5  I lie down, and I sleep. I awake, because the  Lord  sustains me. 6  I will not be afraid of the thousands of people      who line up against me on all sides. Certain Victory 7  Rise up, O  Lord ! Save me, my God! Psalm 1

Book I Psalms 1–41 Psalm 1 Two Responses to God’s Word The Way of the Godly Leads to Blessing 1  How blessed is the man      who does not walk in the advice of the wicked,      who does not stand on the path with sinners,      and who does not sit in a meeting with mockers. 2  But his delight is in the teaching [ a ]  of the  Lord , and on his teaching he meditates day and night. 3  He is like a tree planted beside streams of water,      which yields its fruit in season,      and its leaves do not wither. Everything he does prospers. The Way of the Ungodly Leads to Destruction 4  Not so the wicked! No, they are like the chaff which the wind blows away. 5  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. Conclusion 6  Yes, the  Lord  approves [ b ]  of the way of the righteous, but the ...

The Eyes Of The LORD Are On The Righteous (1 Peter 3:10-12)

Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; 11  let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 12  For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”  ( 1 Peter 3:10–12 , ESV)

Hebrews 4

Hebrews 4 English Standard Version 4  Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it.   2  For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. [ a ]   3  For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter my rest,’” although his works were finished from the foundation of the world.   4  For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.”   5  And again in this passage he said, “They shall not enter my rest.” 6  Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, 7  again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through Davi...

Hebrews 3

Jesus Greater Than Moses 3  Therefore, holy brothers, [ a ]  you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, 2  who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God's [ b ] house.   3  For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.   4  (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)   5  Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,   6  but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope. [ c ] A Rest for the People of God 7  Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice, 8  do not harden your he...

Hebrews 2

Hebrews 2 English Standard Version Warning Against Neglecting Salvation 2  Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.   2  For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,   3  how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,   4  while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. The Founder of Salvation 5  For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. 6  It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him,      or the son of man, that you care for him? 7  You made him for a little ...

Hebrews 1

God’s Final Word: His Son 1  In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,   2  but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.   3  The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.   4  So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. The Son Superior to Angels 5  For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son;      today I have become your Father” [ a ] ? Or again, “I will be his Father,      and he will be my Son” [ b ] ? 6  And again, when God brings his firstborninto the w...

Dialogue With Skeptic (Part 6) God’s Alleged Narcissism

From time to time, the Village Skeptic/Atheist Collaborative, in their seemingly endless project to discredit the Bible, Christians & Christianity, thinking they clever & discerning throw their judgment pearls toward us swine thinking they have gained the upper hand when in truth their just advertising their (self/reinforcing ignorance with respect to what the Bible teaches.   For example… Skeptic :   The Bible teaches that God is a jealous God who cares for Himself first,  above all others.   If true, God is a hypocritical, narcissistic  oppressor who doesn’t follow his own rules. According to Matthew 22, the First Table of the Law is summarized as exhaustive, perfect love for God first.  The 2nd Table is like it: love everyone & everything else 2nd, & then love yourself.  Apologist :   Do you hear yourself?  You’re accusing God of being an narcissistic, omnipotent bully who love Himself first & arguing God is hypocrite w...
