Psalm 67

67  To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song. 1  May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2  that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. 3  Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! 4  Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah 5  Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! 6  The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. 7  God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!  ( Psalm 67:title–7 , ESV)

The Law Of Legalism

This is how legalism operates:  Legality , when asked to render an opinion on whether or not someone should eat food sacrificed to idols, do Halloween,  celebrate  Christmas, “I pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to the correct conviction because I can formulate an argument for both and since I’m conflicted, I don’t participate so I don’t violate my conscious. Bible :  The text of 1 Corinthians says that you shouldn’t participate for sake of the conscience of **others.** not yourself.  Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. 25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 26 For “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.” 27 If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then ...

All Are Made Alive! (Part 2)

Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf?  30  Why are we in danger every hour?  31  I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day! 32  What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”  33  Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”  34  Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. (I Corinthians 15) What does this text mean?  What is Paul referencing?   According to Dan Doriani :  The simplest reading of the text is that some Corinthian Christians were baptized vicariously on behalf of some who’d already died, seeking a spiritual benefit. The problem with this view, though,...

All Are Made Alive! (Part 1)

RL Solberg says the Bible doesn’t teach a species of Universalism.   John 3:18 : Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.  This text is simply a statement of fact.    How does it prove Particularism? At issue isn’t whether or not someone who has failed to exercise saving faith & repentance is condemned.    The issue is whether or not this judicial status is perpetual after such a person crosses over.  John 3:36 :  Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. This text is simply a statement of fact.    How does it prove Particularism? At issue isn’t whether or not someone who has failed to exercise saving faith & repentance is condemned.    The issue is whether or not this judicial status is perpetual after such a person...
