The Confutation of Islam (Part 2)

Objection:  How can you say that God, in Christian theology is not a singular being?   Three persons most certainly can constitute a singular being.   In Dr. Who, Bill Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, & Jon Pertwee each portrayed the Doctor.  Each separate Doctor is perichoretic with the others.  Three Doctors (people) yet one being.   The Muslim criticism of the Trinity strikes me as needlessly irrational.   

Christians, Jews, & Muslims agree that the creation is God’s temple that bears God’s image.  God’s image & authority utterly permeate the created order. 


A concept of God who is all unity & no diversity can’t account for simultaneous unity & diversity in the created order.  


Father, Mother, Child = Family


Paternity, Filiation,Spiration


Particle, Wave, Standing Wave


In, Out, Through 


Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee = Doctor 


Federal, State, Local = Government 


Individual, Ecclesiastical, Civil = 3fold use of the Law 


Prophet, Priest, King - 3fold office, corresponding keys 


Animal, Vegetable, Mineral 


Over the Earth, Earth, Under the Earth


Solid, Liquid, Gas; Plasma has properties of each 


Number (Idea), Numeral, Word = Numerical Expression 

 

1 (number as idea; 1 (numeral), One (word), 1 object 


If God is all unity without any diversity, then the problem of the one & many in simultaneous fashion would not obtain.

Favorite Fallacies & Homosexuality

Thesis - The tradition bound view on homosexuality commits a number of logical, epistemic, & exegetical fallacies.  1-  Is - Ought Fallacy  - Human anatomy is said to provide    a blueprint for sexual ethics.  We examined this in my previous article.  A moral “ought” is derived from a physical “is.”  The disputant makes an illicit leap from what is to what ought to be. A classic example is the way some homosexuals defend their sexual ethics by appealing to their biology/genetics.  2 -  Vicious Circularity   - Human anatomy & physiology are raised to the status due a non-arbitrary epistemic warrant.    A non-arbitrary epistemic warrant must be necessary, reasoned, & principled.  In truth, the body is unnecessary to deduce sexual ethics.
