The Alliance For Defending Bondage
The title of this article at The Christian Post is misleading. CO did not strike at the Christian bookstore. The Christian bookstore & the ADF are striking at CO. This lawsuit of there’s a preemptive strike. Nobody in the LGBTQ community has complained. Neither has CO.
The ADF is supposed to be about defending Christian values. What is the biblical basis for their litigitiousness? The come across as modern SuperApostles stirring the Corinthian church to go legal war in the public square.
What does the Bible say about giving up precious things to follow Christ. LGBTQ people are regularly told to suck it up, but the ADF defends Christians who refuse to do so, contrary to Luke 14. LGBTQ people must give up their civil rights while the ADF seeks to give their clients a free pass.
What does Mt, 5:22 say about “Racaing” people. God says that’s forbidden. The ADF says, “We’ll see about that!” What does Mt. 5:41 - 48 say about paracleting people with whom we profoundly disagree! Rom. 12:20-21? Prov. 25:21 - 22? ADF says, “We’ll see about that too!”
What does CO’s State Constitution say about religious liberty? A business license is an oath. Refusing to obey Mt. 5 is licentiousness. Chronic litigiousness is too, & since LGBTQ people constitute a historically oppressed minority, ADF’s actions disturb the peace & safety of the people by continuing the cycle. ADF… What an Orwellian name for a Christian organization!
The fact that gay marriage and requiring businesses to comply with the law upsets some people is not the definition of a threat to good order, peace, and safety. Threats are the product of their ignorance &/or moral compass of the DCWs, not the law.
However, the refusal of service to gay people is symptomatic of the oppression of gays in CO society, which, over time, does negatively affect the good order, peace, and security of CO. Religious freedom does not extend to activities that are part of a web of deceitful and immoral practices that underwrite threats to the peace and safety of CO’s citizens or good order, insofar as they objectively oppress one or more targeted populations. Requiring someone to comply with Mt. 5:41 - 48is not the definition of unjust oppression.
