Are Vaccine Mandates Immoral?

No, the most certainly are not!   This is really straightforward material, & anybody who understands the biblical definition of “righteousness” correctly can demonstrate the truth of the matter, quickly, forthrightly, & in a manner that is so simple small children can understand it.

Florida is aiming to become the first US state to cancel all of its vaccine mandates, many of which require children to get jabs against diseases like polio in order to attend public schools. 


The state's top health official, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, likened the mandates to "slavery", in announcing the plans.


"Who am I to tell you what your child should put in your body?" he said. "I don't have that right. Your body is a gift from God."

Matthew 22:34 - 40: Righteousness is defined as exhaustive (as to essence), perfect (as to attributes) love for God first, then everyone & everything else, then yourself — in that order.  All else hangs on these two overarching principles. 

Romans 13:8 - 10: Exhaustive, perfect love fulfills the Law. 

I John 4:16 - 18: Exhaustive, perfect love conquers fear related to guilt in the Judgment. 

I Corinthians 13: 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 8 Love never ends.  (1 Corinthians 13:4–8, ESV).  These are the attributes of love.  

The rationale for ending these mandates, aside from having the appearance of an attempt by FL Republicans (and their allies, if any) to play to their base in order to gin them up & maintain Republican hegemony, centers, in their Surgeon General’s own words,  on the belief that the State has no right to interfere with the rights of any one person’s right to bodily autonomy.  

On that view, an individual’s bodily autonomy (“healthcare freedom”) comes first.  They are to love themselves first, then others.   On that view, the wholesale elimination of vaccine mandates is immoral, not the other way around.  Vaccine mandates are designed to encourage & promote the love our neighbor(s) before ourselves.
