The Resurrection 24 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” 8 And they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was Mary ...

Shema
And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
Historical Prologue
And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.
- The text is describing the tearing of the curtain of the temple in figurative terms. Think about it, if this had happened on Earth, literally, why does this event not receive greater attention as a confutation of the majority of the Sanhedrin?
- The text is describing the overall effects of Christ’s person & work & is a descriptive narrative of the ministry of the Apostles & others — all of which happened as a direct result of the crucifixion & resurrections
- When God created the environment in which we live & all living things, he created a cosmic temple in which all living things live,
- The tearing of the curtain refers to the removal of several impediments that stand in the way of God, His peculiar People, emphasizing the fact that Christ’s work of atonement had opened the way of salvation for everyone&when&wear.
And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.
- Darkness had fallen (ie the moon turned to blood)
- The shaking of the Earth is a similar
statement.
52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,
General & Specific Stipulations
53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
- In all likelihood, this doesn’t refer to tombs on the Earth, rather it refers to the 2 destinations people who cross over from the Earth go.
- They “left Egypt” & followed the LORD & His Christ, His Law, & His Gospel.
- They went to the holy city (God’s cosmological temple) & appeared to many people.
- This also refers to the missionary effort in the Apostles existing & future missionary effort. To be a believer/Christian is to have been figuratively & literally raised. from the dead.
- To be a believer is to serve God & others by ministering the Law & Gospel.
Document Clause, Witnesses, Covenant Renewal, & Victory!
54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly I this was the Son of God!” (Matthew 27:51–54, ESV)
- This is a broad description that describes both a local historical event & a much larger cosmic/cosmological event, namely the ultimate victory over Death & Hades.
- Both Yeshua’s, as well the LORD’s & His people, some guarding Yeshua to serve & protect, some ambivalent, & some His enemies, witnessed the LORD & His Christ’s triumph over Death & Hades, were filled with awe & confessed the truth about themselves, the LORD, & His Christ.
- 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and thatevery tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.(Phil.2:10)

Favorite Fallacies & Homosexuality
Thesis - The tradition bound view on homosexuality commits a number of logical, epistemic, & exegetical fallacies. 1- Is - Ought Fallacy - Human anatomy is said to provide a blueprint for sexual ethics. We examined this in my previous article. A moral “ought” is derived from a physical “is.” The disputant makes an illicit leap from what is to what ought to be. A classic example is the way some homosexuals defend their sexual ethics by appealing to their biology/genetics. 2 - Vicious Circularity - Human anatomy & physiology are raised to the status due a non-arbitrary epistemic warrant. A non-arbitrary epistemic warrant must be necessary, reasoned, & principled. In truth, the body is unnecessary to deduce sexual ethics. By way of contrast, God’s nature is definitionally necessary, insofar as God is a necessary being, &, since God is infinite, eternal, & unchangeable in being, w...
Romans 1:18 - 32 & Leviticus 18
Paul is following the basic outline of a suzerain covenant in general & the outline of Lev. 18 in particular. Shema & Decalogue (Rom. 1:18 - 20) God’s Image testifies to His attributes & Law. God created people. His temple bears His Image & runs according to his Law & Gospel. This corresponds to Lev. 18 : 1 & 2. A - Rom. 1:18 - 19. God’s wrath falls on those who suppress His image. B - Rom 1:20 - For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made so that people are without excuse. What is the teleological intent of the created order? To serve as an epistemic warrant on par with God Himself? No! It’s purpose is to serve as a pointer to God who is Himself the only sufficient epistemic warrant for all faith & practice....
Covenant Theology In Outline Form (Part 11)
Isaiah 6:1- 13 Shema In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. Historical Prologue And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and...
