Tackling Tradition 82: Acts 19:1 - 7

Those who make much of New Testament baptism have been known to assert that one must be baptized in the name of Christ in order to have received the Holy Spirit.       Some go so far to say that one must be baptized in order to do so.   One of their major prooftexts is Acts 19: 1 - 7. 19 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spiritwhen you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. 4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. Donald Trump, Sith Lord!

As a follow-up to our post about President Trump’s lack of moral qualifications for office.. 

Mr. Trump’s PR team decided to post an artistic representation of Mr. Trump as, according to the media, in their minds, a big bad patriotic Jedi defending the nation from evil — but they gave him a red lightsaber,  which is an elementary blunder on their part —- In Star Wars lore, red light lightsabers are exclusive to Sith Lords.  

Therefore, instead of promoting the President as a big bad patriotic Jedi defending the nation from evil, they wound up portraying him as a metrosexual Sith Lord.  In Star Wars, Sith Lords are universally warmongers, gluttons, authoritarians, & sorcerers who are hooked up to epic Satanic witchcraft.    

The Book of Jude in the Bible analogizes between false teachers & others who are in league with demons.  Demons are guilty of warmongering, witchcraft, sorcery, religious & quasi-religious bigotry, epic gluttony, & sexual immorality.   

The purpose of the analogy is to prophetically bind demons to heavy hitting false prophets/false teachers, & other usurpers of God entrusted authority.    Demons left their places of authority, according to the text.   Therefore, why should we Christians & other members of the Covenant Community (eschatologically) fear Darth Trump?

Romans 1:18 - 32 & Leviticus 18

Paul is following the basic outline of a suzerain covenant in general     & the outline of Lev. 18 in particular.   Shema & Decalogue (Rom. 1:18 - 20)   God’s Image testifies to His attributes & Law.    God created people. His temple bears His Image & runs according to his Law & Gospel.    This corresponds to Lev. 18 : 1 & 2. I Corinthians 6: 9 - 11

What is really going on in 1 Corinthians 6:9 - 11? 1 Corinthians 6:9–11 (ESV): Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
