Love: Its Essence & Attributes

Matthew 22:34 - 40: Righteousness is defined as exhaustive (as to essence), perfect (as to attributes) love for God first, then everyone & everything else, then yourself — in that order.  All else hangs on these two overarching principles.

Romans 13:8 - 10: Exhaustive, perfect love fulfills the Law.

I John 4:16 - 18: Exhaustive, perfect love conquers fear related to guilt in the Judgment.

I Corinthians 13: Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things Love never ends.  (1 Corinthians 13:4–8, ESV).  These are the attributes of love.

O LORD, Hear our prayer(s)!
