Polygamy

Polygamy!    Is it morally acceptable to have 2 wives? To answer this question, we need to draw a proper distinction between that which is moral & that which is wise.  Matthew 5:27–28 (ESV): You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. As you can see, in the Sermon on the Mount, adultery is not defined merely by the fact that he or she is not your spouse. Adultery is defined by lustful intent. What is lust? Lust is, at its root, the failure to love God over & above everything & everyone else & your neighbor before yourself.  Loving yourself more than God & others is definitional to lust, & lust is what underwrites sexual sin - not the mere sex/gender of your target &/or the lack of marriage certificate.    Using Matt. 5:19 - or any text - to move the moral grounds of moral guil...

3And Pharisees came to Him, testing Him and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for every cause?”


4And answering He said, “Have you not read that the One having created from the beginning ‘made them male and female, 5and said, ‘On account of this a man will leave the father and mother and be joined with his wife, and the two will become into one flesh’? —- 6so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God united together, let man not separate.”

7They say to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a roll of divorce and to send her away?”


8He says to them, “In view of your hardness of heart, Moses allowed you to divorce your wives; but it was not this way from the beginning. 9And I say to you that whoever shall divorce his wife except for sexual immorality, and shall marry another, commits adultery.”

On “A Christian Defense of Real Marriage”

The Christian Post article is here .  In the view of mainstream culture today, there is no such thing as a principled case for the Christian view of marriage that limits it to one man and one woman.
