The Confutation Of Mormonism: Part 7
The nature of the created order testifies to God’s invisible attributes & authority.
By way of contrast, the LDS statements regarding the created order generally center on man, not God, insofar as the purpose of the created order, in LDS theology is “ to provide a physical, temporal setting for God's spirit children to gain bodies, exercise agency, and gain experience to progress toward eternal exaltation.”
Romans 1:18 - 32 disagrees.
Romans 1:18 - 32:
Paul is following the outline of Leviticus 18, following the form of a Hebraic lawsuit.
Shema and Decalogue (1:18 - 21) God’s Image testifies to His attributes & Law.
God created people. His temple bears His Image & runs according to His Law & Gospel.
Historical Prologue (1:22 - 23)
They suppressed God’s image & authority substituting their own, & made idols that looked & behaved like themselves.
Stipulations/Prohibitions (1:24 - 28) In Canaan & Rome, people did heterosexual & homosexual sex for their gods. At times they deployed animals too. (Lev. 18: 6 - 23).
Document Clause, Covenant Sanctions/Renewal & Witnesses, Victory (1: 29 - 32)
Kitchen sink immorality will lead to Rome’s burning, just as it did to Sodom, Egypt, Israel, Babylon, &tc.
The text is about how we are supposed to think/reason. God’s created order testifies to His image & authority. God indicts us for suppressing His image & authority & reasoning Faith, Philosophy, & Ethics accordingly. To do, is anathema.
Mormonism also espouses the traditional view on homosexuality. They, like a great many Christians, interpret “natural” in Romans 1:26 - 27 as “heteronormative,” & “unnatural” as “homosexual,” thus proving that they adhere to reasoning processes that Romans 1:18 - 32 disavows & prohibits as a species of idolatry/idolatrous pursuit.
That sort of reasoning process is what leads them to disbelieve the Trinity, which is ironic when one understands that Romans teaches that reasoning that looks to the created order to do ethical reasoning is a species of idolatry & the sort of things pagans in the ancient world were prone to do.
God’s image & authority utterly permeate the created order.
A concept of God who is all unity & no diversity can’t account for simultaneous unity & diversity in the created order.
Father, Mother, Child = Family
Paternity, Filiation,Spiration
Particle, Wave, Standing Wave
Intuitive Prophecy, Inductive Prophecy, Inductive-Intuitive/Intuitive-Inductive Prophecy = The 3 Types of (Biblical) Prophecy
In - Out - Through = How A Sacrament Works/Operates
Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee = Doctor
Federal, State, Local = Government
Individual, Ecclesiastical, Civil = 3fold use of the Law
Prophet, Priest, King - 3fold office, corresponding keys
People, Animals, Environment = Created Order
Over the Earth, Earth, Under the Earth
Solid, Liquid, Gas; Plasma has properties of each
Number (Idea), Numeral, Word = Numerical Expression
1 (number as idea; 1 (numeral), One (word), 1 object
If God is all unity without any diversity, then the problem of the one & many in simultaneous fashion would not obtain.
In Mormonism, Elohim is one of many gods who are, on a functional level, Exhalted Men.
The creation is said to testify to His image. Although not created objects, numbers reflect God’s image & attributes. Whole numbers are immutable abstract (mathematical) objects that inhere in God’s mind, They are perichoretic via the fractions in between them.
If Mormonism obtains then numbers are not perichoretic. Elohim, in LDS theology, is an internally singular individual & not a singular being who is triune & whose Members are perfectly perichoretic with each other. If Elohim is not triune & his image reflects his nature, then there are no fractional numbers & there is no simultaneous unity & diversity in perfect diversity.
The creation bears the marks of simultaneous unity & diversity. Fractions exist.
O LORD, Hear our prayer(s)!
