Infinite Diversity Infinite Combinations

For the past 2 or 3 weeks, the Christian Internet/Social Media has been abuzz with chatter about the Gubbmit revealing that space aliens exist & are demons.

First of all, this all comes across as yet another conspiracy theory working its way through some quarters of American Evangelicalism.

Second, why would space aliens be demons.    Maybe some are & some aren’t.  So what if some of them are.   Demons are still beings who left their positions of power & authority (Jude).

Most importantly why is a challenge for our faith as Christians?   According to the Bible, the purpose of the created order is to testify to God’s existence, attributes, & authority (Romans 1:18 - 32).  God is not tribal, territorial spirit.   God is universal.   He created everyone & everything every-when-&-where.    That means that if extraterrestrials exist,  they too were created in God’s image.

The Covenant that God imposes upon all of us, according to Genesis, is with all living things — not just us non-angel composite anthropoid human beings.  Yeshua’s Person & Work underwrites every administration of the Covenant.  Therefore,  Yeshua is their Redeemer - Mediator too.

Should any of them be in a fallen estate, Christ’s work accomplished redemption for them too.   They too would know who & what God is.    That’s just how God operates.   They too are subject to the Law & Gospel.  They too are justified by grace alone through faith alone —- &, no, just like the Bible here on Earth teaches, they, like we, are not required to know nor believe a set of propositional truth we call Basic (or Fundamental) Christology (1 Corinthians 6 & 15).  Doctrine doesn’t save, anybody can believe intellectually; anybody can engage in moral reform, but only the regenerate can lay down his/her/their rooted works righteousness.

The (possible) existence of “space aliens” isn’t at all a challenge for the Christian faith.  It simply means that God has created more life out there than a lot of people seem unwilling or unable to believe.   God is still infinite, eternal, & unchangeable, &tc., the Law & Gospel are still for them, & so on.
