Psalm 67

67  To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song. 1  May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2  that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. 3  Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! 4  Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah 5  Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! 6  The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. 7  God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!  ( Psalm 67:title–7 , ESV)

Tackling Tradition 100: Homosexuality & the Prelapsarian Estate

Those who appeal to the Design Argument via their understanding of Romans 18 - 32 don’t understand the implications of their own argument.

How so?

The traditional view entails the belief that Adam & Eve were created male & female & also heterosexual; or, it was a preference either God set (since they were created as adults); or a preference that they themselves reflexively set.

Genesis 2:16–17 (ESV): And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

According to Genesis, LORD’s morals test for Adam & Eve was very specific & had nothing to do with marriage or sexual preference/orientation, &tc.

  • Consequently, if they had decided against heterosexuality in favor of homosexuality, it would not have been a sin.
  • Therefore, the existence of homosexuality in the Postlapsarian Estate doesn’t prove homosexuality would have been a sin prior to the Fall.

Why?

According to Genesis, LORD’s morals test for Adam & Eve was very specific & had nothing to do with marriage or sexual preference/orientation, &tc.  Rather, the morals test was about choosing between the Tree Of Life or the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil.

If the Prelapsarian State provides a moral roadmap for sexual ethics, then it wouldn’t have been a sin before the Fall.  Ergo, appealing to the Prelapsarian Estate of Adam & Eve does not at all prove the traditional view.

Why?

Because, according to Genesis, LORD’s morals test for Adam & Eve was very specific & had nothing to do with marriage or sexual preference/orientation, &tc.    Rather, the morals test was about choosing between the Tree Of Life or the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil.

As is the Way!  Oh LORD, Hear our prayer(s)!

O LORD, Hear our prayers!
